Videos I’ve written, produced, or edited
One of several videos I’ve scripted for NatGeo. I love bringing my background in archaeology and history to bear on a production; in this case, I wrote about the ‘Cradle of Civilization’ - Mesopotamia. In doing so, I tried to bring 5,000 years of history into focus—in under five minutes!
A promo, beautifully animated by the talented Saeed Rawas, that invites the viewer with vivid ideas, playful language, and a bold vision of a hopeful future.
Climate change is an existential issue, that could have economic solutions. With that in mind, the IMF wanted to showcase how economic incentives could help to change behaviors and keep the planet livable. This gave us producers and animators an opportunity to tell a narrative around a story that normally isn’t so compelling.
Pakistan needs its forests to survive climate change -- but deforestation levels have reached a record high. Through environmental activist efforts and government support, Pakistan has a plan for reforesting its coastline.
A fun little promo we got to do for the IMF’s microlearning YouTube channel. Marketing an education in macroeconomics is undeniably challenging but rewarding.
Part of my work at the IMF is their flagship videos that serve as sort of a nut graph for the economic outlook over the next few years.
I’m particularly proud of this video we put together to articulate the economic incentives behind going carbon neutral—and I wasn’t alone, because this managed to garner us an IHAF award!
Wrote and edited multiple segments for a half-hour special hosted by legendary broadcaster David Foster on the evacuation of East Aleppo in December 2016.
In the economic crisis that resulted from COVID-prevention measures, the people can be forgotten. We wanted to bring the focus of the crisis back on those most affected: those who are living it.
With very limited time, animator extraordinaire Saeed Rawas and I put our heads together to build a 30-second TV spot that would build anticipation for the 2023 Spring Meetings - and still work when translated into multiple languages!
I occasionally scripted and produced motion graphic videos for the hour-long foreign policy program Bigger Than Five on TRT World. This one is an attempt to outline the history of US-Russian relations in five facts.
Indian scientists lost contact with their Chandrayaan-2 moon probe moments before it was expected to touch down on the lunar surface. The highly-anticipated mission would have seen India join the US, Russia, and China in the rare achievement of landing a rover on the moon. A breaking news package.
A video piece we shot in Detroit on how the city planned on honoring the Queen of Soul. We tracked down some of those who knew her best.
